About the Artist

Lizzie Ochoa

Lizzie Ochoa is an El Paso native and started drawing when she was a child.
At age four, she drew a picture of Elvis and his backup singers .  At age eight she won second place in a Gibson National Art Contest to design a Christmas card.  She won various awards for her paintings and sculptures while she was in high school and in college.  Lizzie graduated cum laude from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas with a major in art.  She is a member of the El Paso Art Association and active in the community as an artist.

Lizzie Ochoa`s artwork is filled with dramatic color that captures the spirit of her subjects.  This can be seen in her paintings of  Pancho Villa, Frida, and Lila Downs to name a few.  Her paintings and murals also reveal her versatility.  Some of her paintings remind the viewer of the old masters, while other paintings are done in a modern pop art style.  Lizzie is also a gifted sculptor.  She works in clay and also creates custom wax figures.  Lizzie Ochoa`s artwork is featured in private collections in New York, Arizona, Tennessee, California and Texas.
